Who is Sanvi Bangalore?

I am a student and journalist attending American University in Washington D.C. but I'm originally from central New Jersey.

I am a fourth-year undergraduate student double majoring in Business Administration and Journalism and concentrating in business analytics.  I am in the University Honors Program, which accepts the top 2% of incoming students in my graduating class. I am also a recipient of the Presidential Scholarship and the treasurer of American University's Asian American Journalists Association.

In tandem with my rigorous studies, I've strived to gain real-world experience in journalism. I am interning with The Wall Street Journal this summer, where I write articles for their Life & Work section.

I have experience working in national, local, broadcast, and print journalism across various beats such as business, economics, investigative, and lifestyle. Earlier this year, I worked with CNN for The Situation Room with Wolf Blitzer, a daily prime-time show which covers breaking political and international news. I wrote for CBS MoneyWatch during summer 2023 where I reported financial and economic news for their digital platforms. I have previously interned for WJLA-TV, D.C.'s local ABC affiliate and Full Measure with Sharyl Attkisson, an investigative broadcast program airing Sunday mornings.

I am curious, perceptive, and an excellent verbal and written communicator. Through pursuing different professional and academic opportunities, I hope to figure out where I want to work after graduation.

I am a proud daughter of Indian immigrants and have one younger sister named Swati. My mother was born in Hyderabad and my dad is from Chennai. I am the first in my family to pursue journalism and I believe it's important to build a career that you're passionate about, even if it's an uncommon path.

In my free time, I enjoy spending time outdoors in nature and exploring museums and restaurants in DC!
